An escape with the Winnie

Hello my friends......last Tuesday 16th Feb we decided to have a sanity escape.....the man has been going stir crazy at home, now retired and a senior citizen lol turned 60 ☺ so here we are at a free camp not far from home.....

We took our bikes along to, as you never know, we may actually ride em......

This place is called Coopers Creek camping ground about 12klm's from Walhalla town

We were lucky to have a fire pit

And as the weather was quite cool (summer here and mostly stinking hot lol) we got it ready

And burn it did and we also had our new bbq style plate with legs to test out ☺

The man assisted me a little

A selfie with Winnie and fire happening......notice he has shaved off his Mo and Goatie lol and I even have a very thick jumper on which have not worn for months ☺

Just peace and quiet all around us ☺

Some clouds passing over but all good.....

Got our tea cooking away....

Snags, mushrooms and onions

I of course have the hot Chili sauce....

And I chose the cape seed bread full of wonderful seeds ☺ and our meal was delish

While staying there I noticed this tree with shoes all over it.....

Better shot with the dark shoes showing.....strange

Up early to a healthy grill on toast for breaky and herbal tea and sharing an apple as you do......

Stopped off in our town to pick up my repaired glasses and drove to our next free camp near Marlo on the snowy river marlo information

We had a table in this free spot and a perfect view of the snowy river flowing by......"The Man from Snowy River" is a poem by Australian bush poet Banjo Paterson and you may have seen the movie......The Snowy River is a major river in south-eastern Australia. It originates on the slopes of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia's highest mainland peak, draining the eastern slopes of the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales, before flowing through the Alpine National Park and the Snowy River National Park in Victoria and emptying into Bass Strait....the open sea......

Simply beautiful

Looking towards where it eventually meets the sea....

There was even a little pier you could fish off.....definitely coming back to this spot in the future with my rod....

A little bit of crochet was done in the car during this trip.....

Jack and Mishap getting ready for another rough ride to our next unknown destination lol

Woody came with us and certainly seemed to enjoy sitting here.....

He seemed to notice something off to the right just near the water......

You can just see something on some branches at the waters edge.....

Look a lizard!!!

Zoomed in ☺

And this other one was just to the right of that one.....neat...
We had a great time and I will now continue to post the rest of our trip over the next few days....
Thanks for dropping in on us xoxoxo

2nd part to vanning around the Murray 2015

Yes hello again and this does not look very exciting but well, this was happening just up the river from where we camped for 2 nights......

Remember I mentioned environment stuff well this was it.......

Pumping water from the Murray river out to the other side where there were small creek beds

Look at that water pumping

I did wonder if it would affect the river but plenty of water here

Pump causing a LOT of noise.....luckily we could only faintly hear it from where we were camped....

We are down the river on the left......

With zoom.....so lucky not closer or we would of had to move on

We took a drive to look around other parts as were were camped near Swan Hill for info and visited Lake Boga and look at all these Pelicans......

I was pretty happy seeing them and taking a few snaps ☺

A small bridge in the town of Swan Hill

Crossing the Murray River.....then back to camp we went

Lit a fire again although not needed for warmth but a plan to cook on the open fire ☺

Lovely evening again......we did end up cooking some chicken kebabs with some onion to have with our salad.....it got a bit crazy with a few flames and by the time all settled cooking I forgot to take a photo.....but can tell you it was all YUM lol

Next morning we said goodbye to our distant Pelican ♥ to head to our next spot

Arriving into Echuca and drove through Moama echucamoama info

This camp spot is at the golf club and as long as you are a member you can stay for a night or 2
over the 3 year membership......very handy for a meal out as just a short stroll ☺☺

Back into Echuca for a bit of a look around....

They run 3 paddle steamers here although not all steam now

The tree that marks prior flood levels of the Murray river.....the top mark is 1870 then 1975 and 1974 so some pretty amazing levels......

Pride of the Murray Paddle

Back at the Winnie the man relaxing before we headed over to the club for a good meal ☺
Again thank you for coming over and hope you enjoyed your visit xoxoxo
