On our trip we passed this shed which had one of my son's names ☺☺
Weather was great
A group of wind turbines in the distance
We arrived at Portland and unpacked our bikes ready for a ride into the town
Looking good lol
There was a tourist tram here which ran each day. This day, a cruise ship was in so tram was packed all day......
The said cruise ship
Some carnival rides were setup in town and apparently for quite a few weeks
There was a market purely setup for the cruise ship visitors.....
We had a nice lunch in one of the little pubs and thought the man looked a bit like a Dwarf from The Hobbit lol
View back over the many rides happening on our way back to van site.....
Where we locked up our bikes while we walked around and had our lunch at that pub......
We then went for a drive to have a look at the area and we always love seeing lighthouses....
A bit breezy up on this hill
and please excuse all the ocean pictures......but you do know I love the sea ☺☺
Playing around again with zoomed photos.....
Was pretty wild out there......
Whales swim by here for quite a large part of the year, but alas, none for me....
Plenty of those wind turbines near here......
Yeah I know.......enough of the wind turbine lol
But this view is pretty amazing.....
No zoom here but just as lovely
Nice shot of the man enjoying the view too ☺♥
A little wallaby was on the side of road as we drove up to park on other side.....
Zoomed in when I got out of the car....
Did not go too close so that wallaby was relaxed ♥
We then went to look at the petrified forest......
The Petrified Forest is only a 50 metres walk from the blow holes car park. Some say it was formed when a forest of moonah trees was smothered by a large sand dune. Water seeped down through the sand to form a crust of sandstone on the outside of the trunks, decaying the organic matter, leaving behind 'petrified' trunks
Others believe it was formed through the natural erosion of stone in the ground, with the remains looking coincidentally like fossilized tree trunks.
No whales seen......
We had an interesting time and back to the van for the night
Next day we caught the tourist tram and this was our little conductor....
Look, there were crochet blankets for cold days....
A mini train setup at the tram depot....here comes Thomas ♥
Plenty of steam trains here
Mecano just like what my older brother had ☺☺
we then caught the tram back again....
We had a good lunch in this other pub......The man has a special uncle with this name ☺☺☺ Hello Uncle Gordon xo
We then had a short walk around this small museum.....
The man thought the shark needed a drink lol
Back on the tram to have a look at a large water tower now turned into a lookout museum and dedicated to the 2nd world wars
Boy the man does not look happy here lol
Off the tram at the top
Looking up at the water tower more info here
Oh boy there were a lot of stairs going all the way up to the top......
Climb I did.....slowly lol
The view was well worth it......
Pretty neat huh.......
Looking back at the tower now safely on the ground with my 2 feet lol
This little lighthouse was just around the corner from the van site.....
This is the fence of van park......
Held my mobile up to take over the fence shot lol
We stayed here for 2 nights and really had a great time.....
Next day we drove to a spot for free near a small town called Kyneton...a bit of info here ☺
A simple early tea of brie cheese with cranberry red onion paste.....and a little red wine ♥
View out of the window.....
And what do we have here......
Heaps of little ducks came on by......
Walking very briskly when I opened our van door.....
And I was rather happy we were staying right near a train crossing with many diesels coming through ☺☺
Well that was just a quick trip away and visited Mum on our way and again on the way back home...now home and not enjoying the hot weather which is currently happening here.....
Again thank you for dropping in and saying hello xoxoxo
I love all the ocean and lighthouse photos.. and even a wallaby! Thanks for sharing! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa, 2nd part post quite lengthy lol
DeleteLooks like a lovely vacation, Wendy. I love the pictures of the ocean. Being by the sea is so good for the soul, isn't it. Enjoy your warm weather - it's in the 20's here in NY.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan ☺☺ sending you warmth
DeleteI too especially loved the ocean views and lighthouses. The petrified wood is interesting to see and different than the petrified wood we have here on our property. I'm glad you had a good time on your trip and that you shared it with us, Wendy :)
